Assault on La Haye Sainte big black powder game

The Saturday before Christmas I planned my big holiday game of black powder . Me and a couple of friends met at one of our local hobby stores . The war store hobbies center in Riverhead NY . Great store with some good table space . They held two tables for us . I arrived and began to set up everything I owned in 28mm napoleonics . I set the la haye sainte farm house in the center of the board , along with it's defenders . loosely based on historical forces that occupied the farm . Everything else was orginized in to two brigades about the same in strength . The game kicked off with the French cavalry racing up the right flank bypassing the farm house . The other French brigade began to move up the left flank with two battalions trying to assault the farm . Which ended up being a fail . They got hung up in the farms orchad just out side the farms outer wall . As the kings german legion rifles fired into them . The command roll to order a British brigade was a failure . The British colonel was a complete Buffon . Barely ordering his men terrified of the French old guard marching on them . Of course this was my commander and brigade . The whole game I yelled and ridaculed him and threatened to never play a game with again . The French had the same problem with a whole brigade ignoring there orders as well .  Playing a big part in why the French couldn't put a full push on the farm house . The French heavy cavalry smashed into the brave British light cavalry . They  kept battling in a furious clash of sabers . Finally the the British succumbed . But with the rifle and musket fire from the kings german legion and the 95th rifles they'd were able to rout the remnants of the French heavy cavalry . The end of the of the battle showed the French army was unable to take the farm . The British were bloodied , but were able to hang on . Inflicting damaged to stop the French , for a British victory . great game with lots of fun moments . Can't wait to play again . Enjoy the pics . Till next time . Madrobotsminiatures.com bits review

Ever since I started playing warhammer 40k . I've always wanted to do a army of imperial guardsman . Built like colonial marines from the movie Aliens. One of the best scifi films ever ! So I started looking around and found this great miniature , bits website . http://www.madrobotminiatures.com/zencart/ on this site they had colonial marine helmet heads and armored torsos . They had pulse rifle looking lasguns . The best was they had smart guns with stedicam arms and the modeled chest armor . Perfect for making a smartgunner , which I'm going to use for my guard veteran melta gunners . The site has lots of great bits as well as other full model kits . Clean cast , perfect crisp detail . Happy Thanksgiving hobby time !!

Happy thanksgiving every one here in the states ! It was a nice holiday weekend of food and family . That doesn't mean every chance I didn't run into my gaming room and get some painting done . So I started working on my tanks from the armored fury bolt action starter box . Started painting my    German Panther tanks , finished up the last bit of figs from Waterloo box set . More French line infantry for black powder . Started priming my ww1 flames of war British , but sadly ran out of black primer . Also started working on my new imperial guard veterans squad with " aliens colonial marines " bits from madrobotsminiatures.com . More bits on there way to finish this project I've been wanting to do for awhile . Sadly no games played except for some rounds the resistance card game . If you haven't tried it . I highly suggest it . Especially for family outings . Well next time I'll have a little more for you . Till next time happy gaming

Robotech RPG Tactics Battle report

Just got to play my first game of the new robotech miniatures game . Had a lot of fun . First off it's pretty much a strait foward game . Roll for initative and take turns alternating activations for each of your squadrons of mecha . The main mechanic  , is your armies generate command points that you can use for various things . Examples are to dodge attacks , roll with damage to reduce damage from hits , steal initative , shoot down  incoming missles , boost your mechas movement , fire extra weapons etc . The game went great . I played as the zentradi and my friend took control as the UEDF .  The zentraedi forces out number the human forces but do not generate as many command points . Each mecha you have in your force generates one command point . Your leadership score also generates command points , but any one with the life is cheap rule dosnt generate command points . All the zentradi tactical regault pods have the life is cheap rule . So the large hordes you have of the zentradi battle pods are pretty much taking any special actions . Pretty much dying in droves . But with there special rules the zentraedi officiers battle pods can spend a point to bring back any dead pods from there group back . So the game kicked off . We started with the standard dog fight mission from the book . So basically a kill point mission . The UEDF army with it's very maneuverable veritech fighters and hard hitting destroids put the hurt on the zentraedi battle pods that came swarming in . Missles flew every where , really capturing the feel of the show . The zentraedi forces took heavy casualties until they got close . Amassing there firepower they started to take down earth mechca . The Glaug battle pods are bristling with weapons and really started bringing the hurt . But with the large amount of command points the humans hang in there as weapon fire just shoots ever where . The earth forces in the end held out for the victory . The game was a blast and I look foward to playing again now with the a better grasp of the rules. The game really captures the feel of the show . Hats off to pladium and ninja division on the rules and miniatures . The way you have the differnt modes for each veritech miniature is great as well . Hopefully soon kickstarter backers will receive wave two . Also I can't wait for the miniatures to be released to retail stores to get more stuff . Big thumbs up from me after my first play through . Can't wait to see what's coming down the pipe for this game . Till next time happy gaming

Robotech rpg tactics minatures finished !

Last week I finished up my robotech rpg tactics minatures . Very happy with there table top quality look . All those zentradie battle pods look impressive on the table . I'm excited to try out the rules . They seem very strait foward . Your army gets a pool of command points every turn depending on the amount of mecha and leadership value your army has . These command points are used through out the squadron activations for special abilities . Examples are dodging , firing extra weapons , rolling with impacts , stealing initiative , and a whole slew of other things .
